Interview with Off With Their Heads – Podcast 94

Posted by rich on April 7, 2009

We took a break…Sort of. It’s a good news band news situation. The bad news is I’m getting increasingly lazy. Driving 60 miles to interviews, editing and posting shows is just getting to be a lot of work. The good news is we’re planning to post at least 25 shows this year (hopefully more). Sorry if that’s not up to snuff but it’s just getting harder for find bands to get excited about interviewing and all that. We promise not to just up and quit. We’ll burn out in a smoldering ball of mediocrity before we go up in flames.

This week we talk with the fine folks of Off With Their Heads. This was during the Thorns of Life show in Berkeley and I couldn’t avoid throwing a few shots at Blake and Co. Don’t take it personally, I’m sure they’re all do damn busy being flooded by tons of fans to give a damn about what I have to say anyhow. So just enjoy the show. Oh, there are a few “beeps” on this show…They’re there for no good reason and you don’t need to know about it.

Interview with Propagandhi – Podcast 93

Posted by rich on March 3, 2009

Welcome back, have a seat, take a load off. Why do you have a load anyway? What are you, some old timey mine worker? Speaking of old timey, we have an interview with Chris Hannah, frontman and general badass from Propagandhi. The fine foursome from Winnepeg are getting ready to release their fifth album in 40 years, Supporting Caste. The boys are really excited for this one and Chris has a ton of things to talk about from the new album, to the hiatus of G7 Welcoming Comittee and even a bit about politics (really a rare topic for Propagandhi). So check it out and hear bits of their new album that 99% of your friends already downloaded.

Also, we’re going to continue running our 1-2-3-4-Go! Records contest, so check that shit out to learn how to enter to win. And always feel free to send us some stuff at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspace or in the comments section. And remember “They have destroyed poor families by breaking up those families, by offering welfare checks to women to keep having babies, no more father needed”

Interview with 1-2-3-4 Go! Records – Podcast 92

Posted by rich on February 24, 2009

After a super extended holiday break we’ve returned with all of the your favoriteness that you’ve come to expect! I’ll take the blame for the break, I got used to not doing tons of thankless work and not receiving e-mails from people who hate me and want to do nothing more than needlessly criticize me. I’m sorry, it won’t happen again (P.S. It’s totally gonna happen again).

To welcome you back we have an interview with the head hancho and lead man of 1-2-3-4-Go! Records, Stevo (maybe he has a last name, I don’t know. Maybe it’s “O”. Like he’s Steven Jenkins Oh. That would make the “Oh” Face joke so much better for him, also it means I’d see his mother’s “Oh” Face a lot). Stevo is a super rad dude who has been running one of the best labels in the Bay Area, releasing everything from Pop punk to crazy rock and even some folk type shit. Also, he’s full of crazy stories and useless information. If you’re a fan of anything ever, you’ll want to listen to what Stevo has to say.

Also, we have a brand new contest for not one, not four but three releases from 1-2-3-4-Go! Records. Listen to the end of the broadcast and you can learn how to enter to win copies of Nobunny’s Love Visions, Git Some’s Cosmic Rock, and The Ringers Detention Hall. That’s like $20 worth of shit…FOR FREE!! So check it out and be sure to contact us at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on MySpace or in the comments section. And remember, “Thank you very much. Everyone’s crying, and now I have to go on.”

Interview with The Gaslight Anthem – Podcast 91

Posted by rich on December 9, 2008

Before we go away for the Holidays we wanted to bring you a special interview, with some amazing folks. Last year we had a great interview with Brian of Gaslight Anthem. It was rather impromptu (I just ran after him on the street screaming, “Brian!”, at the fest). A lot has happened in that last year, they’ve toured a ton, put out fifty million versions of their vinyl records, signed to Side One Dummy and (as of Tuesday) played on Conan O’Brien. Needless to say we were more than a little excited to talk to Alex, Alex and Benny. These guys are totally awesome and it’s been fun to seem them grow, and they’ve kept a good damn sense of humor about it along the way.

So check it out and be sure to tune into our Austin Lucas and mc chris interviews to enter some contests and we’ll answer those after the new year. Be sure to hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspace or in our comment section. And remember, be sure to support our “usurper, this long-legged mack daddy”…Fuck yeah.

Interview with imadethismistake – Podcast 89

Posted by rich on November 18, 2008

Welcome to the special, pre-Thanksgiving edition of Sound Scene Revolution. It’s really on Thanksgiving related because I ate a shit ton of Turkey and got drunk and yelled at Sound Guy Nariman. Oh, the Holidays! Help us celebrate with and interview featuring Kylewilliam of the band Imadethismistake. This guy isn’t only a talented songwriter but he has this crazy red hair that makes him look like a Jim Hensen, you know you want some of that. If that doesn’t catch your interest we also talk about, life, music, running The Cottage Records, hobos from Tallehasse and unattractive old people. So tune in and check out that maddness.

Also, we have our contests for mc chris and Austin Lucas still in effect. Listen to the end of those shows to learn how to enter to win all kinds of crazy shit. As always you can contact us at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspace or on our comments section. And remember “… I am used to going up against men who are killers; if I am not the best, then I am dead.”

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 3) – Podcast 84

Posted by rich on October 14, 2008

I’ve been off the last couple of weeks. Taking some time to reconnect with nature. Find my center. Look at lots of porn. You know the usual. We’re gonna wrap up our Warp Tour interviews today and move on to a bright and sunny future with our other upcoming interviews in the next few weeks.

This week we talk with The Gym Class Heroes and The Street Dogs. I doubt you could find two more different bands on Warped Tour. Maybe you could, but we’re not here to talk about how cool you are, so stow it. It’s a fun time and the guys in Street Dogs even reference our favorite website, Punknews.org. So peep that.

This is the last week of our Against Me! S/T 12″ contest (that ran a bit longer than expected). Listen to the last 8 minutes of the shows to learn how to enter. We’ll be back and better than ever next week. So be ready…Are you ready? Then get ready. And remember “Sure. Technically, I don’t know.”

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 2) – Podcast 83

Posted by rich on September 9, 2008

Welcome, to this the 80-something episode of Sound Scene Revolution. This is the second of our three Warped Tour Interview sections. This week we sit down with The Aggrolites, Story of the Year and Cobra Starship. Well, it’s more standing than sitting. Regardless, they’re pretty epically nasty and I highly reccomend you listen.

We are continuing our Against Me! contest for this week, so be sure to listen to learn how to enter. We’ll be back next week with tons more zany good times. And remember, “The difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.” And dogs don’t bullshit themselves into thinking abstinence is the best answer for teenage pregnancy.

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 1) – Podcast 82

Posted by rich on September 2, 2008

We’re back folks with probably our best podcast this week! Our show today is a double dose of Warped Tour Madness featuring The Bronx and (for the third time) Against Me!. We couldn’t be more excited as we talk with Matt, of The Bronx, about their two new albums and the insanity of Bronx vinyl. We were even more stoked to talk to Warren of Against Me!. The boys of AM! weren’t doing interviews that day, but we pulled some strings and managed to land a quickie with Florida’s favorite drummer/beard patron.

We also have a really exciting contest that we’ll be running for the next couple of weeks. One lucky winner will get a copy of Against Me!’s S/T 12″ EP. Only 500 of these were made and they sell for around $200 on ebay, so be sure to listen to the last 8 minutes of the broadcast to learn how to enter to win.

Be sure to say hello at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our Myspace, or here in the comments section. And remember, “Avoid the Noid”.

Interview with Shannon Saint Ryan of The T4 Project – Podcast 81

Posted by rich on August 26, 2008

We’re back with another exciting show, or at least as exciting as we get. This week we are running an older interview we did with Shannon Saint Ryan creator and main inspiration dude of the T4 project. Never heard of the T4 Project? Well, it’s not terminator based…unless I missed something. It’s a story based concept album (redundant?) about…well, something virus related.

Anyhow, we talk to Shannon all about how he came up with the idea and what motivated him to enlist the help of a ton of great artists (from bands like Bad Religion, Strung Out, TSOL and others) as opposed to just doing it solo. I think the interview doesn’t blow. Find out for yourself.

Like I said, we should have some contests in the coming weeks so stay tuned for that. Hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on Myspace or right here in the comments section and remember, “In the 21st century nations don’t invade other nations”.
