Anyhow, for our 100th show, we thought we’d all bring it back to when we were young, fresh faced and still trying to be good at this and what better way than a clip show? No better way god damn it, no better way. So we start off with the show that aired immediately after our last clip show (show 10), with Push to Talk (R.I.P.) and take it all the way through some of our favorite moments of the last 89 shows. We’ll touch base with favorites like The Lawrence Arms and lesser noticed (but equally great) moments with bands like New Mexican Disaster Squad. It’s been a zany ride and we have the audio to prove it.
If you thought something should have made the cut or just want to say “what’s up” send us your thoughts at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspaces or here in our comments. We’ll be back next week with new content, and soon the inevtiable “Warped Tour” Series. I normally close with some silly topical quote but I won’t let Sarah Palin sully our milestone. Just remember, we are, hands down, the best goddamn podcast on earth. Period.
-Rich
We also have a really exciting contest that we’ll be running for the next couple of weeks. One lucky winner will get a copy of Against Me!’s S/T 12″ EP. Only 500 of these were made and they sell for around $200 on ebay, so be sure to listen to the last 8 minutes of the broadcast to learn how to enter to win.
Be sure to say hello at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our Myspace, or here in the comments section. And remember, “Avoid the Noid”.
-Rich
Anyhow, we talk to Shannon all about how he came up with the idea and what motivated him to enlist the help of a ton of great artists (from bands like Bad Religion, Strung Out, TSOL and others) as opposed to just doing it solo. I think the interview doesn’t blow. Find out for yourself.
Like I said, we should have some contests in the coming weeks so stay tuned for that. Hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on Myspace or right here in the comments section and remember, “In the 21st century nations don’t invade other nations”.
-Rich
Also, Virgil “Vinyl Overlord” Dickerson has been kind enough to hook us up with not one, not two, not four but three awesome prize packs! Each prize pack contains a copy of the Playing Favorites new album I Remember When I Was Pretty on CD and vinyl as well as a Suburban Home Records “I Celebrate Their Entire Catalog” shirt. Listen to the end of this killer broadcast and learn how you can win this amazing prize packs.
Enjoy the humor and insight of Joey and be sure to check back next week as we continue to lower the bar leading into our Christmaskuhwanzavistuseaster break (that’s a whole lotta gifts). As always feel free to drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, our MySpace, or in the comments section. And remember: Don Imus says…who really cares? Seriously, he looks like a wax statue of himself, gross.
-Rich
So sit back and enjoy The Briggs, The Warped Tour Comedians (yeah, seriously) and Authority Zero. No on contests but our Asian Man Extravaganza and our Whole Wheat Bread contest are still open so check those out. Always, always (always?), yes always, hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or in the comments section.
Karl Rove resigned this week…What a bitch.

Anyhow, this week we have a killer interview with Bay Area transplant and MU330 frontman, Dan Potthast. Dan is more than just a frontman for an amazing ska band, he also has his own solo work and a ton of small projects, most of which get discussed in this interview. So kick back and enjoy the sounds of two mouth breathers talking about monsters, rollercoasters and a smattering of music.
Also, we’re continuing our Asian Manstravaganza where you can ENTER TO WIN!!! both of Dan Potthast’s releases ( Sweets and Meats and Eyeballs), The Lawrence Arms Cocktails & Dreams, the re-release of Alkaline Trio’s Goddamnit and other cool Asian Man swag. Just listen to the end to learn how to enter.
As always, drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or in the comments section. See you all next week. And remember, if I lived next to a serial killer I wouldn’t snitch…I might move but I wouldn’t snitch.
-Rich
So out of the three interviews we wanted we got one. Still, we left with 7 interviews, that’s 6 whole interviews filled with bands we don’t know and people we don’t know what to ask. So sit back and enjoy the awkwardness of entire interviews where I avoid asking bands about their music, because I don’t know anything about them.
As far as contests go, we’re not going to ask bands on Warped Tour, making no money, to give us free shit. Sorry, but we’re not total assholes. But stay tuned for some real contests coming up soon. Also, say hi at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or in the comments. It’s so totally awesome it makes us forget that Al Qaeda is regrouping.

Enough ape shittary, on to the stuff you came for, our exciting first interview of the New Year! We figured the best way to kick off the start to out amazingly mediocre podcast is with an amazingly mediocre band. But what band could be so bland as to meet our standards? We needed a band that not only lacked all creative abilities but also dressed like complete asshats. We could mean none other than Fat Wrecks world famous herpes sore Me First and the Gimme Gimmes!
Alright, so they aren’t that bad but when a band makes so much fun of themselves it’s hard not to join in. We had the dubious honor of sitting and talking with Joey Cape and Fat Mike while they pretty much took potshots at me the entire time.
NOTE: I would like to make two statements in my own defense
1)the comment I make about The Monkees being like the U.S. Beatles was a joke, though Fat Mike took plenty of shots at me over it.
2)When I mention the discarded album title Can’t Quit You that the band seemed so confused about I read it in several places (Link), on the internet…way to not have my back internet.
Anyhow, be sure to check out the last eight minutes to learn how to ENTER TO WIN!!! a copy of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes’ new album, Love Their Country. When it’s free you can’t go wrong. Always feel free to drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on the MySpace or on the comments section. And remember, you’re listening to the internet.

The story behind this interview is that Push to Talk keyboardist (Brett) went to a little private school known as Junipero Serra in San Mateo. Here he played bass in a band called Spishak (with Nate of Push to Talk). They played shows, put out some albums, played with American Steel and then decided that oiling up dudes was more important than rock. I lost track of Brett for several years before I finally found he’d resurfaced with Push to Talk. Excited to utilize nepotism to fill up empty slots in our schedule we set up an interview. I didn’t know at the time that I’d really end up liking the music that they play or that they’d be an awesome interview but I did and they are. So you should really listen, plus this interview may cure herpes (just like dianetics cures illness).
Anyhow, be sure to link us on your little blogs/myspace/livejournal and tell all your friends how rad we are. As always you can send us your comments at soundscenerevolution@gmail.com or at our comments section. Also, be sure to add us on Myspace. We need lots of friends so we can send out those bulletins that are 50 stupid questions we answered because we were bored (seriously, is that the best way people can kill time?). So enjoy the interview and help us out, it’s what Carson Daly would want.
