Interview with World/Inferno Friendship Society – Podcast 31

Posted by rich on August 15, 2006

This week marks a milestone, not necessarily for us at SSR, but for humanity as a whole. This week is the official release of one of the greatest pieces of cinema du force ever, Snakes on a Plane. Seriously, have the jokes gotten old? Sure. Is it going to be a mark of pop culture embarrassment years from now? Probably. Am I going to be there opening weekend? Absolutely.

And with that we at SSR bring you our very special (in no way related to) Snakes on a Plane episode, featuring the snakiest band around The World/Inferno Friendship Society. This ruckus group of east coasters may think everyone and everything about California stinks but we still can’t help but love them. So check out the interview and learn about Jack Tericlothes machete induced appendectomy, how they got kicked off tour with Mindless Self Indulgence and the origins of WWJD (What Would Jack Do). PLUS, bonus, guest interviewer Justin (a.k.a. Fuzzy) from PunkNews.org.

In addition we will be giving away TWO copies of World/Inferno’s new album Red-Eyed Soul (and let me tell you, your soul has red eyes because it just got its ass kicked by this rocking album). Honestly (and internet ass kissing aside) this is one of the best albums of the year, period. So listen to the last 8 minutes (at least) to learn how to ENTER TO WIN. As always send us love and hate care of SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, our MySpace or on the comments section (especially if you have a name like Balls Mahoney). So take care and fly safe, because if it’s not snakes on your plane you need to worry about, apparently it’s baby formula.

Interviews at Warped Tour (Part 2) – Podcast 30

Posted by rich on August 8, 2006

This week we bring you the fantastic second edition of our Warped Tour interviews. So sit back and enjoy music and interviews from The Living end and Every Time I Die. One band is Australian and plays an upright bass, one is American and has a music video featuring Michael Madsen, I’ll let you decide who is who. However, I will tell you that urine, Revolver magazine, and giant hair is discussed.
As these bands are both much to famous to give us stuff (and we didn’t want to ask as Warped Tour is draining enough) we will simply be running our Akimbo contest for another week. So check out the end of last weeks broadcast to learn how to enter to win fabulous prizes. As always, you can hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or under the comments section. Enjoy and check back next week for continued heights of awesomeness.

Interview with Akimbo – Podcast 29

Posted by rich on August 1, 2006

So here we are, another week and another wonderful, enlightening episode. This week we have Seattle’s Akimbo. These three guys have a rock-a-tude factor that is only beaten by their awesome hair factor. How good are they? So good that Jello Biafra insisted they put out an album with Alternative Tentacles. So if you love awesome metal infused hardcore these are your guys.

If you’re unfamiliar with their sound this week’s contest seeks to hook you up! You can ENTER TO WIN either a copy of Akimbo’s City of Stars or Forging Steel and Laying Stone or BOTH! Listen to the last 8 minutes of the broadcast to learn how to enter to win. As always hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace or on the comments section. Keep an ear out for next week’s newly awesome episode.

Interviews at Warped Tour (Part 1) – Podcast 28

Posted by rich on July 25, 2006

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Double post today (first one ever, so be excited)! In this very special Warped Tour Edition we decided to bring you the maximum rock possible in the minimum time frame. That means interviews with both Against Me! and The Casualties.

First we talk with AM! bassist Andrew all about Florida, signing to Sire and why Vinnie from Less Than Jake interrupted our interview to dance around shirtless. Next we talk to Jake of The Casualties about their new album, recording a Spanish album and where they get their hair products. So enjoy.

Also, we will continue run our Theo and the Skyscrapers contest, so listen to the end of last weeks broadcast to get all the rules on how to enter that. And please drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or on our comments section.

Interview with No Trigger – Podcast 26

Posted by rich on July 11, 2006

So I hope you all spent your Fourth of July week soaking in the beauty that is American Freedom. Apparently there was also some big Kickball tournament or something too (I guess it was on ESPN 8 or Telemundo). However, that garbage is purely for those Un-American godless, third world, countries who need to pray to Jesus for the salvation of democracy.

Speaking of praying, I pray that you’ve heard of No Trigger who hail from Dudley, MA (which is technically America). Their latest album, Canyoneer, has been getting love from critics and audiences alike and they have a live show that packs enough energy to power one of the those heathen third world countries. We got to talk with Tom and Mike from the band, which by the way, is the names of 80% of the band (if you’re doing the math that means two Tom’s and two Mike’s). These guys are not only really talented but funny as well (and cute as one of those buggley eyed kitten posters). So listen to this shit.

In addition we have a NEW CONTEST this week for a chance to win one of two copies of Canyoneer. As always listen to the last part of the broadcast to get the entry rules. You know you love us so hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace, or on the comments section. Enjoy nursing that week long hangover you got and be sure to come back next week for more awesome music and prizes.

P.S. I forgot to add that the song we play is “Hail Mary Leakey” (not Seeky or seeskey or whatever the hell I try and say). Like the pro’s we are we didn’t have the CD on us so we looked up the track names and apparently someone else mislabeled the track and we just followed them. My bad.

Interview with Dead To Me – Podcast 25

Posted by rich on July 4, 2006

So let’s keep this simple as I have beer to drink and fireworks to watch. This week we talk with Chicken and Ian of the San Francisco, CA band Dead to Me. This band has members from both One Man Army and Western Addiction. How can it not rock? Answer: It must rock!

This isn’t so much an interview as it is me trying to contain the insanity that is Chicken. So if you want something that’s more funny than informative, this is your Podcast. Also we have a chance to ENTER TO WIN a free copy of Dead To Me’s debut album Cuban Ballerina. So check out the end of the broadcast to figure out how to get free shit. Also, drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace (which is blowing up son!), or on our comments section right here on the webpage. So check it out and enjoy this amazing week in American independence.

Interview with The Phenomenauts – Podcast 24

Posted by rich on June 27, 2006

I’m in the middle of watching an Eddie Izzard special I got on Netflix so this will be quick. This week we have Oakland, CA locals The Phenomenauts. I call them locals in that they claim Oakland as their headquarters, however they are truly citizens of Earth and they support Earth. More so than being Earth supporters they play awesome rock music with just enough rockabilly to keep things changing up. In addition their tour bus kicks much ass.

Along with their music and interview we’re giving away two copies of their Springman Records debut Re-Entry. So be sure to listen to the end of the broadcast to learn how to WIN THE FREE MUSIC!!! You can enter by messaging us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, at MySpace, or on our comments section (if you’re brave). Enjoy and let us know if you enjoy it.

Interview with The Loved Ones – Podcast 21

Posted by rich on June 6, 2006

So, you’re back, eh? Well, since you keep coming back, I guess we have to keep providing your lazy ass with stuff to listen to. This week’s interview comes from a night of hard work (read as: sitting around the whole night as the band shuffled around the interview time). However, it was totally worth it as we got to sit down in the back of a van/truck/tour bus thing with Philadelphia’s favorite stepsons, The Loved Ones.

For those of you who don’t know, The Loved Ones are three totally awesome (and totally varying in height) guys who have played in several awesome bands (Paint it Black, Trial by Fire and The Curse). Somehow, through construction and a shared love of alcohol, they came together to form a band that blends heavy songs with pop melodies. Sure other bands have said they do that, but The Loved Ones actually do it. Oh, and they don’t suck either.

Also, we don’t have a new contest this week but we will be continuing last weeks Teenage Bottlerocket/Red Scare contest (as it has two winners it should take up two weeks, right?). Anyhow if you want to enter shoot us an e-mail at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, send us a message on MySpace or see our comments section. And next week we’ll return with more AWESEOME PRIZES!! So, enjoy and remember to keep those e-mails coming.

Interview with Teenage Bottlerocket – Podcast 20

Posted by rich on May 30, 2006

So this will be our first “two in a row” update in about two months. How about that for service with a smile, bitch? Anyhow, there’s something with Joan Rivers on QVC so let me make this short and to the point.

This week we had the chance to talk to Wyoming’s own Teenage Bottlerocket. These guys are not only intensely rocking but they’re apparently drunk a lot (or at least during the course of this interview). Their first album on Red Scare is called Total and it’s out right now, so please check it out, because by the next album you will wish you had heard about them.

Also, we continue with the FREE SHIT GIVEAWAY this week by offering two lucky bastards a chance to win some Red Scare shit (as chosen by Toby at Red Scare). So be sure to listen to this week’s podcast (or at least the last 4 minutes) to learn how to enter. As always hit us up on our comments board, at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, or at MySpace. Keep doing what you do, and we’ll keep messing up music.

Interview with The Vex – Podcast 18

Posted by rich on March 21, 2006

Huzah bitches, we ain’t dead. So it’s been a while but we’re glad to be back. This week we have an awesome interview with local boys The Vex. We actually snagged this interview with a little help from Johnny of The Clifton’s. So I guess it really is all about who you know.

So, this interview takes all sorts of weird twists and turns. Ultimately we discuss music for only a few minutes. A majority of this interview is about drinking, crimes and porn…and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. So be sure to check these bad boys out and if you get the chance visit their site and see them live, before they’re banned from every venue in the Bay Area.

Also we may have some big new stuff in the works so be sure to check back hourly for hopes of news. And as always tell us how to fuck up less at soundscenerevolution@gmail.com, on our comment section or on MySpace.
Have a good week suckers.
