Interview with The Forgotten – Podcast 43

Posted by rich on December 12, 2006

For those of you who don’t follow our history, Sound Scene Revolution was originally created to focus on local, Bay Area, bands and underground artists. As we’ve been gaining popularity we continued to bring you underground artists but we’ve been slacking on the local artists, UNTIL NOW!!! This weeks show features a straight forward punk band who is both local and national AND rocks on several different levels. This could only be San Jose’s very own The Forgotten.

For those not in “the know” The Forgotten is a Bay Area staple of old school punk rock, who will be celebrating their tenth anniversary in 2007. Though they’ve been inactive for a little while (due to other commitments and other bands), the boys are back and they’re talking. So listen as we talk about every topic from San Jose’s annually horrid “Downtown Ice” to Joe Strummer and a few things in between.

For those of you who haven’t gotten your holiday shopping done you can ENTER TO WIN some promotional shwag from The Forgotten. Though we don’t know what it is yet, Gordy, from The Forgotten, has promised us some stuff for a give-a-way so be sure to enter and you may get the coolest prize ever…or you may just get a photo of my ass, either way you’re a winner. So listen to the last 8 minutes, at least, to learn how to enter. As always you can hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace or on the comments section on our main page. Enjoy the interview and remember, one more episode till we take a couple of weeks off for a drunken holiday vacation. WOOOOO!!!

Interview with Leftöver Crack – Podcast 41

Posted by rich on November 14, 2006

So, how does one top an interview with Quebec’s hometown heroes of awesome? With an interview featuring New York’s favorite squatter punks. You know it has to be Leftöver Crack. More specifically Stza (Scott Sturgeon) and Ezra (Ezra Kire).

This is more than just an interview, this is a glance into one of the most misunderstood bands of all time. They’ve been banned from venues, shit talked on message boards and they claim Tim Armstrong (owner of Hellcat Records) hates Stza more than his ex-wife. This is right up there with Rush Limbaugh making fun of Michael J. Fox on the controversial factor.

Along with a great interview you can ENTER TO WIN a copy of Leftöver Crack’s latest full length Fuck World Trade. This album created controversy with everything from its title to the artwork, to the lyrical content. You already downloaded it anyhow, so get a legit copy. Just check out the last eight minutes to get the low down. As always tell how much you love or hate us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section. Next week we plan to kick off big before we go on Turkey Day vacation, so check it out!!!

Interview with The Sainte Catherines – Podcast 40

Posted by rich on November 7, 2006

In a continuing effort to bring you music from people who are not our immediate friends or family, we recently spoke with on of Canada’s greatest six piece bands. Not only do these guys play killer punk rock with three guitars, not only do they speak no less than two languages, not only do they manage to tear through at least 5 vans and as many transmissions but they also have some sort of music award shaped like moose antlers. You better believe The Sainte Catherines have it all.

And you better believe we talk about it all in this interview. From hot tubs to Hugo signing some guy’s girlfriend’s breast we cover every topic you would want to know about (I think music is mentioned once or twice as well). Not to mention a special appearance but Santa Cruz security guard Mr. Willie Nelson Look-a-Like.

If that isn’t exciting enough we have a copy of The Sainte Catherines’ Fat Wreck Chords debut Dancing for Decadence AND a free t-shirt to give away. It’s like French Canadian Christmas without the limbo (trust me, it’s in Wikipedia). So listen to the last 8 minutes to learn how to ENTER TO WIN!!!! As always hit us up at SoundScneneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section. You’re feedback is the only thing that allows us to live (sort of like the blood of babies and the government).

Interview with Strike Anywhere – Podcast 39

Posted by rich on October 31, 2006

So with a pressing election coming up (that’s for those of you who care enough to stop playing Final Fantasy whateverthehell long enough to notice) we figured it’d be prime time to slap you in the face with some well deserved politics. Not from us, of course, but from Richmond Virginia’s hometown hero’s Strike Anywhere.

We recently sat down with Thomas and talked about everything from Virginian politicians, to how you pay rent. And, let me be the thousandth person to say, Thomas is fucking smart. Not just like, “Oh, I have a PHD and like to look down on people” smart, like “Hey, I actually understand shit and can explain it to you” smart. Add to that an intense set of dreadlocks and you got a recipe for an awesome interview.

As per usual we have a BRAND NEW CONTEST where you can ENTER TO WIN a copy of Strike Anywhere’s latest CD Dead FM as well as other cool band shwag. Be sure to check out the last eight minutes to get the full scoop on entering. And always hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, at MySpace or on the comments section. I’m serious, we actually read at least 30% of all the shit we receive (I’ve already refinanced my house and begun a penis enlarging pill regimen thanks to peoples friendly e-mails).

Interview with The Draft – Podcast 37

Posted by rich on October 3, 2006

So, here it is another week and another blog I’m late in submitting so Sound Guy Nariman can’t post our new episode. Seriously, this shit was edited last week and the only reason it was held up is that I’m a dumb ass. Anyhow, for those of you who aren’t 14 year olds being sexually solicited by members of the GOP we have an exciting new episode this week where we sit down with Chris from The Draft. You know, that band that’s 80% members of Hot Water Music. Oh, you heard? Well did you know that we had an interview with Chris, The Draft’s frontman? Yeah, next time just wait till you get all the details before you make an ass of yourself.

Anyways, not only do we have an interview but we have a chance to ENTER TO WIN a copy of the Draft’s debut CD In a Million Pieces and a t-shirt (the free shirt is a large so if you don’t fit a large it makes an awesome gift). So be sure to listen to the last 8 minutes or so of the show to get details on how to enter. So enjoy the interview, where you can learn if The Draft has an affinity for Oprah’s book of the month club or if they just like little candy sprinkles.

Interview with A Wilhelm Scream – Podcast 33

Posted by rich on August 29, 2006

This week we have something even more exciting than a debacle in a ten year old murder case, that’s right it’s A Wilhelm Scream (not just an exciting sound effect). These Massachusans are not only the kings of soon to be pin up teen heart throbs, they’re also one of the best young technical punk bands around. We got the chance to talk with Nuno and new bassist Brian (and knowing how this band goes through bassists this may be the only time you hear from him) about such fine topics as touring, being recognized at Best Buy and how awesomely unawesome Warped Tour is. We even took time to tackle the big issues regarding Dexter Holland and Anarchy Airlines!

EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS PANDA FUN TIME!!!: Once again Justin from PunkNews.Org finagled his way onto the show. I’m not sure about the details about how he got on the show but I believe it has something to do with me asking him. Anyhow, he throws a couple of funny lines out there so keep an ear out for him.

Finally, we have a new contest were you can win a FREE copy of A Wilhelm Scream’s The Benefits of Thinking Out Loud and a CAN COZY! It’s like Christmas in your internet and A Wilhelm Scream is coming! Be sure to listen to the last 8 minutes or so to learn how to enter. And your continued contact through SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, our MySpace and the comments section always makes us smile (even if it’s only at your horrible grammar). So keep coming back and we’ll keep asking the questions you never wanted to know the answers to.
