Interviews at Warped Tour (Part 1) – Podcast 28

Posted by rich on July 25, 2006

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Double post today (first one ever, so be excited)! In this very special Warped Tour Edition we decided to bring you the maximum rock possible in the minimum time frame. That means interviews with both Against Me! and The Casualties.

First we talk with AM! bassist Andrew all about Florida, signing to Sire and why Vinnie from Less Than Jake interrupted our interview to dance around shirtless. Next we talk to Jake of The Casualties about their new album, recording a Spanish album and where they get their hair products. So enjoy.

Also, we will continue run our Theo and the Skyscrapers contest, so listen to the end of last weeks broadcast to get all the rules on how to enter that. And please drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or on our comments section.

Interview with Theo and the Skyscrapers – Podcast 27

Posted by rich on July 18, 2006

“Welcome to hell, bitch!” Martin Lawrence – Nothing to Lose

I doubt one quote has ever summed up my feelings about weather and politics so well. However, to help you cool out and relax in this time of unending heat and political turmoil we bring you one of the coolest bands around, Theo and the Skyscrapers.

For those who don’t know Theo and the Skyscrapers features both Theo (of the Lunnachicks) and Sean (of Toilet Boys). But don’t let the history fool you, this band is a brand new creation. Imagine those bands who say their influences range from Slayer to Blondie, now imagine if their music actually reflected that. Well, Theo and The Skyscrapers music does. It’s an eclectic mix of hard rock and new wave pop, and it rules.

This shit is so good that we are giving away two copies of their debut self titled CD/DVD. That’s TWO discs for the price of none, you can’t possibly beat that. So listen to the last 8 minutes or so to learn how to enter to win (I’ll give you a clue, it involves sending you information to SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com). As always, say hi at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com , our MySpace page or on the comments section.

I’m going to sit in a tub of ice.

Interview with Dead To Me – Podcast 25

Posted by rich on July 4, 2006

So let’s keep this simple as I have beer to drink and fireworks to watch. This week we talk with Chicken and Ian of the San Francisco, CA band Dead to Me. This band has members from both One Man Army and Western Addiction. How can it not rock? Answer: It must rock!

This isn’t so much an interview as it is me trying to contain the insanity that is Chicken. So if you want something that’s more funny than informative, this is your Podcast. Also we have a chance to ENTER TO WIN a free copy of Dead To Me’s debut album Cuban Ballerina. So check out the end of the broadcast to figure out how to get free shit. Also, drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace (which is blowing up son!), or on our comments section right here on the webpage. So check it out and enjoy this amazing week in American independence.

Interview with The Phenomenauts – Podcast 24

Posted by rich on June 27, 2006

I’m in the middle of watching an Eddie Izzard special I got on Netflix so this will be quick. This week we have Oakland, CA locals The Phenomenauts. I call them locals in that they claim Oakland as their headquarters, however they are truly citizens of Earth and they support Earth. More so than being Earth supporters they play awesome rock music with just enough rockabilly to keep things changing up. In addition their tour bus kicks much ass.

Along with their music and interview we’re giving away two copies of their Springman Records debut Re-Entry. So be sure to listen to the end of the broadcast to learn how to WIN THE FREE MUSIC!!! You can enter by messaging us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, at MySpace, or on our comments section (if you’re brave). Enjoy and let us know if you enjoy it.

Interview with DESA – Podcast 23

Posted by rich on June 20, 2006

No crap intro this week, just a quick explanation. This week we talk with Oakland, California’s coolest band that used to have members in Link 80, DESA. All you really need to know about these guys is that they rock hard, real hard (and they live in the nicest ghetto you’ve ever been afraid to leave your car in). They’re on tour right now with RX Bandits and they have a new album out called Arriving Alive that blows away any of their previous stuff we play on this show. So, I highly suggest you get it.

Now if you’re unfortunate enough that the tour isn’t coming to your town (or you’re too poor to buy a CD), we’ve hooked it up with DESA so that one lucky listener will get a free copy of their new CD and a DESA t-shirt (which are designed by Aaron of DESA). So be sure to listen to the last of the segment and ENTER TO WIN!

In the meantime, we’re always on at MySpace or email us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com. Keep checking back for more music and free stuff.

Interview with Cougars – Podcast 22

Posted by rich on June 13, 2006

So for those of you who aren’t busy mourning the fact that June 6 wasn’t the apocalypse. we got something for your monkey ass. This week we get to sit down with a band that has played with everyone from Pigmy Love Circus to The Broadways. This week we’re proud to bring you some time with the Windy City’s own Cougars.

For those of you who don’t know this band (and won’t take the time to listen to the songs) I’ll attempt to explain their sound. Cougars are similar to a violent death scene in a zombie movie or a baby seal getting clubbed to death. It’s pounding, never extremely fast and it continues to bludgeon you till your eyes bleed (oh and they have horns too). And just like the finer things, like zombie flicks or seal skin slippers, their sound may not be for everyone. But, for those of us who like this music, it’s second to none.

So be sure to check it out as we have TWO EXCLUSIVES THIS WEEK. First, we have a new, unreleased Cougars track off of the upcoming Thick Records compilation. Make no mistake, this is NOT a Pillow Talk b-side, this is a newly recorded Cougars masterpiece. Also, we have a NEW CONTEST where you can enter to win a copy of Pillow Talk (the Cougars latest album) as well as some cool Cougars stuff. Be sure to listen to the first and last four minutes (before the first and last song) of the broadcast to get entry rules. As always we love this internet thing so be sure to say “hi” at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our comments section or on MySpace. See you lazy bastards next week.

Interview with Communique – Podcast 17

Posted by rich on February 28, 2006

So welcome back. This week I’m keeping it short because in addition to moving in to my new place, my car was burglarized (love that safest big city in America shit San Jose keeps touting about). So, with a long day of canceling and reissuing cards and ID’s behind me what could possibly cheer me up? The fact that this week’s interview is a two for one! That’s right we spoke with Rory, Ryan and John of the band Communiqué, who were also in a little band called American Steel.

That’s right three guys who were in two awesome bands taking part in one interview. We ask the questions that no one has ever dared asked. We found the answers that no one dared find. We even found out what poosurping is. So enjoy a great interview with three kick ass guys.

Please (for the love of Jebus) contact us if you have anything to say. We can only make this shit suck less if you tell us what you like. Want us to interview someone? Tell us. Want certain questions answered? Let us know. Want more pictures of Nariman and I engaged in homoerotic activity? We’re already on it. So hit the comment section or soundscenerevolution@gmail.com or our MySpace or all three. We love to know you care, even if y’all don’t vote. Check back next week as we rock this podcast bitch till the wheels roll off.

Interview with Tera Melos – Podcast 16

Posted by rich on February 21, 2006

Alright, I just moved and I’m practically typing this thing on top of a cardboard box so no long ass entry today. Long story short we got a killer interview with Tera Melos. These dudes aren’t only massively talented, not only do they have a killer live show but they were also one of the Associated Press (the only AP that matters) most overlooked bands of 2005. An honor they shared with Stryper…FUCKING STRYPER!

Anyhow, these guys are seriously phenomenal and I highly suggest you see them live and buy their album. Otherwise you’re just a nerd. Anyhow, hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or our message boards. We love to hear from y’all. So keep checking back and always offer your suggestions, we know we’re not perfect but we try.

Peace,
-Rich

Interview with Greg MacPherson – Podcast 7

Posted by rich on December 6, 2005

Welcome back! After stuffing ourselves on turkey and celebrating national genocide we’ve decided to head on back with an out of country interview. That’s right, we here at SSR just sat down with a real live Canadian. Not just any Canadian but Winnipeg’s own Greg MacPherson. That’s right, just before opening for Propagandhi on their Crimean Tour, Mr. MacPherson took a few minutes to sit down and humor us Southern Yanks.

This was actually Greg’s very first time in California and it was our first time interviewing a Canadian. So, as you can imagine, there was a high degree of caution on both sides. However, as the interview went on both of us warmed up and ended up probably sharing more than we should of. Honestly, Greg is one of the nicest and most honest musicians I’ve ever met. This may explain my fast growing Man-crush that I have with him. None the less, I suggest you take the time to find out about one of Canada’s most interesting and engaging artists. Please do not look him in the eyes though, lest he steal your soul and your heart.

To keep you interested, next week we should have one of our biggest guests to date. I only hesitate to name names for fear that God won’t let us actually succeed in our task. So if you really want to know are hugely rocking guest for next week, you’re just going to have to listen next Tuesday. As always, if you want to contact us you can reach us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, or on our comments section. All comments are welcome, even if you just want to profess your man crush on Mr. MacPherson. Thanks for reading.
