Sorry, it’s been a week or two but we’ve been really swamped with things here in the real world (or Meat World). But we’re back with a great new interview with Fake Problems. These four crazy kids from Florida play a great mix of punk and country. You’ll totally want to listen as the boys talk about music, religion and beating the shit out of each other with spoons. Trust me it’s fun.
NEW CONTEST!:
One lucky winner will win a Fake Problems 7″ and a t-shirt (large). Listen to learn how to enter to win. Also, send us all your internet thoughts at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or on the comments section. Be good or we’ll sick the dogs on you.

I’m making this quick because I’m way late getting this in. This week we have Ken and Jeremy from Fat Wreck Chords finest, Smoke or Fire. These guys bring the rock like your mother brings the homemade gravy to a baptism (we don’t know why she does it either). Be sure to listen as the boys discuss the benefits of a college education, touring around the world and why Guns N’ Roses is only awesome in the past tense.
ALSO!
Awesome contests this week where you can ENTER TO WIN!!! a copy of Smoke or Fire’s second full length, This Sinking Ship. We’re also continuing to run our Love Me Destroyer contest that breaks down like this:
Two (2) Winners:
-One (1) winner gets both (2) Love Me Destroyer full lengths, a poster, a t-shirt (XL), and some sticker.
-One (1) winner gets all that PLUS a Love me Destroyer pint glass, all courtesy of the lovely folks at Suburban Home. Bought separately it’s a combined value of more than a human baby, but this special offer could be yours for free, just enter!
That’s it, it’s a wrap. Please hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section. And remember Wu-tang is for the children.

We kind of fell off the face of the earth for a little while so let me explain…We totally suck. Actually, we just wanted to make sure we had some good shows lined up. We hate taking weeks off as much as you hate late updates. The only thing we hate more than late shows is doing a show half assed. So, instead we opted to take a few weeks off, gather up some shows so this way we have a little buffer so we don’t need to fall behind or simply slap together a show with some shit band.
To usher in our triumphant return we are bringing you a great interview and contest. The band is none other than Denver, Colorado’s best punk band of 2005, Love Me Destroyer (last years award went to Prince, go figure). If you’re not familiar with Love Me Destroyer, you should be. They play a great blend of technical and melodic hard rock and they write a fucking killer power ballad.
We sat down with Scooter, Ryan and Cody to discuss their new album, Guitar Hero II, The Departed, threesomes with black chicks and trying new things with dudes. If you think you misread any of that, you didn’t, it’s just that crazy. This interview is equal parts hilarity, informational and offensive. It’s like a naked potato sack race with the guys from NPR.
If that’s not enough to get you to listen, Suburban Home Records has hooked us up, again, with crazy shit to give away. We’re talking CD’s, pint glasses and all sorts of good shit.
[I’d like to take an aside to really thank the fine people at Suburban Home. We know we’re just some shit podcast but these guys have treated as well as we could have asked for. Suburban Home is easy to work with and just genuinely good people. Now go buy their shit so they don’t have to move it all].
Be sure to listen to (at least) the last 8 minutes of the podcast to learn how to enter to win. Be sure to send us your thoughts at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace and our comments section. And remember, Love Me Destroyer: Try new things with dudes.

I’m at the job so I’ll keep this short (updating your blog is apparently only a small step up from looking at porn on the clock, according to company policy). This week we have a couple of special surprises. First, we have a rocking guest by the name of Geoff from Defiance, Ohio. They’re a super awesome band that blends elements of folk and punk(ya know, folk-punk). If that doesn’t do it for you picture Against Me!, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Woody Guthrie and four dudes who haven’t showered in a while playing beach volleyball in the middle of October on some far off frozen tundra that is only inhabited by an indigenous population of crab people, while the soundtrack to The Sound of Music plays in the background and a team of Iron Chefs prepare a meal for the Grand Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan using the secret ingredient of teeth pulled from the infant mouth of the Siberian White Tiger. Ya know something like that.
No matter what you compare them to Defiance, Ohio is one thing, good! And to add to this weeks goodness we have a special guest interviewer, Justin from Punknews.org . Unlike all the other times where he just chimes in with a question or two Justin actually takes the helm for this interview and steers this sinking ship of a podcast right into the coast of awesomeness! Of course this journey did take some 50 minutes so Sound Guy Nariman edged it down a bit for posting, but the full sized one should be up at sometime.
FINALLY: we wrap up our contests for Only Crime, New Mexican Disaster Squad and Drag the River this week. Thanks to everyone who entered, be sure to listen to see if you won. While we don’t have a new contest (as Defiance, Ohio readily gives their music away) we are continuing to run our contest for Tim Barry, so listen to that and learn how to enter. Always (and I mean that) feel free to drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or in the comments section. You never call anymore and a letter once in a while would be nice and don’t even get me started on how neglectful you’ve been of Sound Guy Nariman…Well you get the idea.

So, it’s Valentines week, huzzah (by the way “huzzah” is in Microsoft spell check, weird)! Hordes of young lovers will be buying sweet nothings for each other, writing love poems and hooking up (hopefully leading to an unwanted pregnancy and a Maury Povich paternity test marathon). And, what better way to celebrate the season of love than with a new podcast featuring those barons of romance, New Mexican Disaster Squad. The name just says, “The Sexxy”.
We sit down with three of Orlando’s sexiest foursome to talk about everything from Richard Minino’s crazy artwork, to why they rock so hard live, and even the erotic, and taboo topic of piss bottles kept in a van while touring. It’s like everything you ever wanted to know about love, but never really thought about asking. PLUS, someone farts in the mic (too hot).
In addition, this week we host our most awesome ENTER TO WIN!!! ever! The New Mexicans totally hooked it up and we have two awesome giveaways that will make you, instantly, their biggest fan. Check it:
1 – Second place winner gets a limited edition New Mexican Disaster Squad silk screened print done by Richard of NMDS (limited 1 of 80)
1 – First place winner gets a huge New Mexican Disaster prize pack including; the above print, a copy of Don’t Believe on CD, a copy of the Don’t Believe 12″ (on white vinyl and a bonus track not on CD), and some stickers and a button. That shit is insane!
So, if you ever thought you might like New Mexican Disaster Squad, now is the time to find out, just listen to the last 8 minutes of the show to learn how to enter.
As always, feel free to drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace, or under our comments section. We love to hear interesting opinions and always welcome ways to improve the show. Until next time remember, what ever happened to the Old Mexican Disaster Squad?

Happy first Tuesday of February! Did you enjoy the Super Bowl? Probably not unless you’re Payton Manning. Seriously, what a clusterfuck of a game. I’m not saying the Colts don’t deserve it but the Bears might as well of shined the Lombardi Trophy for the Colts.
Whatever, what really matters this week is hardcore punk with hardcore punks, namely Senior Russ Rankin of Only Crime. This guy has been involved in more awesome stuff than your sister in a three way with a clown and a painter (you heard right). So listen as we talk to Russ about his expansive punk rock career, his political leanings and what it’s like to play in a band where everyone asks you about the drummer.
Also, we have a chance to ENTER TO WIN!!! a copy of Only Crime’s new album, Virulence. All you need to do is listen to the last eight minutes (give or take) to learn our super easy entry rules, then you can impress your friends with you ability to win awesome free shit. As the saying goes, you can always hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace and our comments section. And remember, I don’t like decaffeinated teabags.

So I don’t know if you noticed, but we were gone last week. Sorry, we have personal lives(not really but sort of) and we weren’t able to get a show up BUT I promise we’ll make it up to you. How? By giving you a rip roaring good time of an interview with everyone’s favorite native Virginians, Avail!
We sat down with Beau Beau to ask the important questions, why. Why hadn’t they come out west in 5 years? Why don’t they have a new album? Why does Beau Beau have that insane goatee? And we got answers!…To most of them. But even if it’s not super informative, it’s super fun. So enjoy, as you listen to Beau Beau and I freeze to death in the Santa Cruz winter.
No contest this week but two super important updates:
1) As we approach our 50th show we’d like to revamp the site. So if you, or someone you know, does graphics or logos let us know. You can even send us your ideas or logos (just make sure to include the price you want if we use it). We’re not shelling out Google money, but we do understand that you want to get paid for your work (even if we don’t).
2) Along with “upping the punx” we’ve upped our bit rate to a stunningly clear 128kbit/s. Now you can hear me mumble and swear in a whole new way.
So send us your logo ideas, or let us know what you think about our old and improved show, to SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on Myspace or leave us a comment right here. See ya’ll next week and remember, sharing is caring.

Hey there podcastees. Well after starting off the New Year with a mediocre fizzle we’ve decided to kick things up a notch by bringing you a new, up and coming, state of the art, highly improved, version 30.6…you get the idea. So who could be worth all this praise? I’ll give you a hint it’s a band with members who have been in Tsunami Bomb, Enemy You and Time Spent Driving. If you guessed Nothington, you’re absolutely magical!
Nothington is amazing for more reason than band association. These guys managed to go from their first show to the release of their first album in six months! Add to that the fact that they’re the first new band on BYO Records in two years. Then multiply that by their music which is an awesome blend of beardcore and punk rock and you have an equation for awesome. Trust me, in two years you’re going to want to be able to tell all you friends that you liked these guys first.
If all the rocking awesomeness isn’t reason enough to listen perhaps the chance to ENTER TO WIN!!! a copy of Nothington’s debut 7″ and a Nothington t-shirt (size large) is reason enough. Be sure to check out the last eight minutes to learn how to enter. As we usually beg feel free to hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our MySpace or on the comments section on the main page. And remember, if you don’t listen to the internet, it will listen to you.

Welcome back from your amazing holiday season. I hope you got all the meaningless material possessions you could ever ask for, and with any luck you got totally sloshed at least once and did something you’ll regret. Baby Jesus would be proud.
Enough ape shittary, on to the stuff you came for, our exciting first interview of the New Year! We figured the best way to kick off the start to out amazingly mediocre podcast is with an amazingly mediocre band. But what band could be so bland as to meet our standards? We needed a band that not only lacked all creative abilities but also dressed like complete asshats. We could mean none other than Fat Wrecks world famous herpes sore Me First and the Gimme Gimmes!
Alright, so they aren’t that bad but when a band makes so much fun of themselves it’s hard not to join in. We had the dubious honor of sitting and talking with Joey Cape and Fat Mike while they pretty much took potshots at me the entire time.
NOTE: I would like to make two statements in my own defense
1)the comment I make about The Monkees being like the U.S. Beatles was a joke, though Fat Mike took plenty of shots at me over it.
2)When I mention the discarded album title Can’t Quit You that the band seemed so confused about I read it in several places (Link), on the internet…way to not have my back internet.
Anyhow, be sure to check out the last eight minutes to learn how to ENTER TO WIN!!! a copy of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes’ new album, Love Their Country. When it’s free you can’t go wrong. Always feel free to drop us a line at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on the MySpace or on the comments section. And remember, you’re listening to the internet.

So we’re just about to take a break for the holidays BUT before we do that we feel that we should leave the show on a high note. Unfortunately, as we couldn’t find a really good band, we leave you with Whiskey Sunday. I’m just kidding. But really folks, Whiskey Sunday is comprised of five San Jose locals who take kindly to hard rocking and hard drinking. They’ve been compared to Leather Face and Hot Water Music…and that ain’t too damn bad!
As for what this interview entails, well that’s kind of hard to say. We do talk about music, The Fest and split 7″ but that’s only scratching the surface of this twistedly deep band. We had to cut a large part of this interview because it was just too damn odd. Well, that and you couldn’t hear anything above Dover’s drunken screaming.
What more can you want? Oh, Free Shit? You better believe we talked to Eric, of Whiskey Sunday, and he promised to hook some lucky winner up with some sick Whiskey Sunday gear, you might even get a free shirt, everyone loves that! Just listen to the last eight minutes (or so) to learn how to ENTER TO WIN!!! Also, you can always contact us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section.
Enjoy the new year bitches!
