Interview with Cougars – Podcast 22

Posted by rich on June 13, 2006

So for those of you who aren’t busy mourning the fact that June 6 wasn’t the apocalypse. we got something for your monkey ass. This week we get to sit down with a band that has played with everyone from Pigmy Love Circus to The Broadways. This week we’re proud to bring you some time with the Windy City’s own Cougars.

For those of you who don’t know this band (and won’t take the time to listen to the songs) I’ll attempt to explain their sound. Cougars are similar to a violent death scene in a zombie movie or a baby seal getting clubbed to death. It’s pounding, never extremely fast and it continues to bludgeon you till your eyes bleed (oh and they have horns too). And just like the finer things, like zombie flicks or seal skin slippers, their sound may not be for everyone. But, for those of us who like this music, it’s second to none.

So be sure to check it out as we have TWO EXCLUSIVES THIS WEEK. First, we have a new, unreleased Cougars track off of the upcoming Thick Records compilation. Make no mistake, this is NOT a Pillow Talk b-side, this is a newly recorded Cougars masterpiece. Also, we have a NEW CONTEST where you can enter to win a copy of Pillow Talk (the Cougars latest album) as well as some cool Cougars stuff. Be sure to listen to the first and last four minutes (before the first and last song) of the broadcast to get entry rules. As always we love this internet thing so be sure to say “hi” at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our comments section or on MySpace. See you lazy bastards next week.

Interview with The Loved Ones – Podcast 21

Posted by rich on June 6, 2006

So, you’re back, eh? Well, since you keep coming back, I guess we have to keep providing your lazy ass with stuff to listen to. This week’s interview comes from a night of hard work (read as: sitting around the whole night as the band shuffled around the interview time). However, it was totally worth it as we got to sit down in the back of a van/truck/tour bus thing with Philadelphia’s favorite stepsons, The Loved Ones.

For those of you who don’t know, The Loved Ones are three totally awesome (and totally varying in height) guys who have played in several awesome bands (Paint it Black, Trial by Fire and The Curse). Somehow, through construction and a shared love of alcohol, they came together to form a band that blends heavy songs with pop melodies. Sure other bands have said they do that, but The Loved Ones actually do it. Oh, and they don’t suck either.

Also, we don’t have a new contest this week but we will be continuing last weeks Teenage Bottlerocket/Red Scare contest (as it has two winners it should take up two weeks, right?). Anyhow if you want to enter shoot us an e-mail at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, send us a message on MySpace or see our comments section. And next week we’ll return with more AWESEOME PRIZES!! So, enjoy and remember to keep those e-mails coming.

Interview with Teenage Bottlerocket – Podcast 20

Posted by rich on May 30, 2006

So this will be our first “two in a row” update in about two months. How about that for service with a smile, bitch? Anyhow, there’s something with Joan Rivers on QVC so let me make this short and to the point.

This week we had the chance to talk to Wyoming’s own Teenage Bottlerocket. These guys are not only intensely rocking but they’re apparently drunk a lot (or at least during the course of this interview). Their first album on Red Scare is called Total and it’s out right now, so please check it out, because by the next album you will wish you had heard about them.

Also, we continue with the FREE SHIT GIVEAWAY this week by offering two lucky bastards a chance to win some Red Scare shit (as chosen by Toby at Red Scare). So be sure to listen to this week’s podcast (or at least the last 4 minutes) to learn how to enter. As always hit us up on our comments board, at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, or at MySpace. Keep doing what you do, and we’ll keep messing up music.

Interview with 8-Bit – Podcast 19

Posted by rich on May 23, 2006

So it’s been an interesting little break. I’m sure you guys barely missed us what with the season finales of Lost, Will and Grace and Some other shit. We decided to skip the big frenzy of May finales (April too) and instead log an assload of killer interviews that we will now unleash on you to kick off the summer months.

So how do we start off this ass whooping of new music? How about a band of rapping robots from Los Angeles called 8-Bit. That work for you? It fucking better. 8-Bit are by far one of the most interesting and unique acts we have ever had the honor to talk to. Not only can these rapping robots out drink your entire family but they also have stories involving Beck and Dr. Phil (so you need to hear this shit).

Along with new music we’ve decided to offer you guys some incentive to listen, so we’re giving away free shit. That’s right, starting today we’re going to start giving away free shit. If you want to know how to win, simply listen to this weeks podcast and we’ll tell you how to entry and what you’ll win.

So tune in, enter to win free shit and be sure to drop us a line on Myspace or SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com.

Interview with The Vex – Podcast 18

Posted by rich on March 21, 2006

Huzah bitches, we ain’t dead. So it’s been a while but we’re glad to be back. This week we have an awesome interview with local boys The Vex. We actually snagged this interview with a little help from Johnny of The Clifton’s. So I guess it really is all about who you know.

So, this interview takes all sorts of weird twists and turns. Ultimately we discuss music for only a few minutes. A majority of this interview is about drinking, crimes and porn…and there ain’t nothing wrong with that. So be sure to check these bad boys out and if you get the chance visit their site and see them live, before they’re banned from every venue in the Bay Area.

Also we may have some big new stuff in the works so be sure to check back hourly for hopes of news. And as always tell us how to fuck up less at soundscenerevolution@gmail.com, on our comment section or on MySpace.
Have a good week suckers.

Interview with Communique – Podcast 17

Posted by rich on February 28, 2006

So welcome back. This week I’m keeping it short because in addition to moving in to my new place, my car was burglarized (love that safest big city in America shit San Jose keeps touting about). So, with a long day of canceling and reissuing cards and ID’s behind me what could possibly cheer me up? The fact that this week’s interview is a two for one! That’s right we spoke with Rory, Ryan and John of the band Communiqué, who were also in a little band called American Steel.

That’s right three guys who were in two awesome bands taking part in one interview. We ask the questions that no one has ever dared asked. We found the answers that no one dared find. We even found out what poosurping is. So enjoy a great interview with three kick ass guys.

Please (for the love of Jebus) contact us if you have anything to say. We can only make this shit suck less if you tell us what you like. Want us to interview someone? Tell us. Want certain questions answered? Let us know. Want more pictures of Nariman and I engaged in homoerotic activity? We’re already on it. So hit the comment section or soundscenerevolution@gmail.com or our MySpace or all three. We love to know you care, even if y’all don’t vote. Check back next week as we rock this podcast bitch till the wheels roll off.

Interview with Tera Melos – Podcast 16

Posted by rich on February 21, 2006

Alright, I just moved and I’m practically typing this thing on top of a cardboard box so no long ass entry today. Long story short we got a killer interview with Tera Melos. These dudes aren’t only massively talented, not only do they have a killer live show but they were also one of the Associated Press (the only AP that matters) most overlooked bands of 2005. An honor they shared with Stryper…FUCKING STRYPER!

Anyhow, these guys are seriously phenomenal and I highly suggest you see them live and buy their album. Otherwise you’re just a nerd. Anyhow, hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or our message boards. We love to hear from y’all. So keep checking back and always offer your suggestions, we know we’re not perfect but we try.

Peace,
-Rich

Interview with La Plebe – Podcast 15

Posted by rich on February 7, 2006

So, we’ve been on time for three weeks in a row, it’s about time we fucked up again isn’t it? Well too bad, because this week we have another killer band you’re going to want to hear about. The band in question has not only toured the West Coast and Mexico and has plans to tour Europe. Not only are they the first bilingual band we’ve had on the show (remember ArnoCorps only sings in English). Not only do the rock hard enough to make your fat mom get up in dance. But, they also have a singer with a mowhawk that has to be at least 8 inches tall.

Who could possibly embody so much awesomeness and not distort this very plane of existence? None other than San Francisco’s very own La Plebe (which according to some on-line translator means The Populace). These guys probably personify everything rocking about good music; wide array of influences, solid work ethic, awesome tattoos and if that ain’t enough they also have horns! But don’t confuse La Plebe for a ska band. These guys are nothing but straight ahead, balls out rock music. So give them a listen, if not for yourself than for the fact that you can tell your friends you’re listening to a Latin influenced band (world music is all the rage amongst pseudo intellectuals these days). So just shut your mouth and listen and check out their shows. If you don’t thank me for it later you’re an unappreciative jerk.

So that’s all for this week. Be sure to check back every Tuesday as we push the very envelope of awesome to its breaking point. As always feel free to hit our comments section, drop us a line at soundscenerevolution@gmail.com, or try joining us on MySpace. Speaking of which, please tell us how to get more MySpace friends. Do we need to have crappy pictures of us holding cameras looking in a mirror? More pictures of Nariman shirtless? Or do we just need some shitty background with fairies and princesses and shit? Help us out so we can continue to bring you the high quality content that you want and deserve.

Interview with Jason Webley – Podcast 14

Posted by rich on January 31, 2006

So Happy Chinese New Year! Though I’m not Chinese I’d like to believe my insatiable love of their food would qualify for reason to cheer. Another reason to cheer is this week’s interview with sing/songwriter/accordionist/vegetable rights activist Jason Webley. I’ve been a huge fan of Jason’s work for the last few years so I leapt and grabbed at the opportunity to talk to him, even if it was in a shady basement, in a shady area of shady San Francisco (it was quite dark with all that shade).

Honestly though, I was super stoked about this interview. And what’s cooler is I got to do it in nearly an ideal setting, the creepy basement of some hole-in-the-wall club that was illuminated solely by red lights. Sure it was a strange location but it seemed to ooze the perfect atmosphere for Jason. So trust me when I say that this is an interview you want to listen to if you’re a fan of Jason Wesley or if you just want to hear a guy who’s freakin’ awesome.

So enjoy and be sure to push us on your friends like dope. Honestly, send them a link to our site in e-mails and IM’s. To make sure they open it give it some heading like “Every time this is Forwarded little Jimmy gets a new spleen” and then tack some line on the end about how if it’s not forwarded to 10 people the Ghost of Kwanza Past will haunt them. Or you could just post on our comments section, send us an e-mail at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com or find us on MySpace. We know how many of you listen to this (we have our ways) now pony up and start earning your free weekly music. Till next week.
-Rich

P.S. we’d also like to mention the name of Mr. Webley’s proposed record label is not “Beep”. We were simply asked to remove the name, to avoid potential complications while Jason finalizes securing it. So, we know something you don’t. Nah nah nah nah nah nah.

Interview with Shinobu – Podcast 13

Posted by rich on January 24, 2006

So, another week, another amazing new artist. This week we sat down in our studio (oh that’s right bitches we have a studio more on that later) with the South Bay’s very on Shinobu. Now, I came across these guys on one of the overly awesome Springman Records compilations. I was really impressed by their music and I was really surprised to learn they weren’t signed or bigger than they were. I knew it was our mission to sit down, interview and exploit Shinobu for all they’re worth before they blow up. So in a year’s time, when these guys are blowing up like your girlfriends waistline, you’ll know where you heard them first.

As for what it was like talking to them, I was really surprised. For making such rocking music they’re all pretty normal. Well, as normal as you can be for a band named after an anime cartoon that also has a member who is a video game tester. Still, you’re more likely to find these guys hanging out at your local arcade or midnight movie than at some awesome club or swarmed by groupies. Also, they love porn. Seriously, I think the topic of porn comes up no less than about 30 times in this interview, it’s insane.

In other news, we actually do have a studio…Well, sort of. See Nariman (the killer sound guy/sex symbol) runs a business that requires a warehouse and he’s nice enough to let me bring this fuck up of an experiment into the office. So if you want us to interview your band but you’re afraid we’ll stalk you, now you can come to our office and we’ll never know where you live! So now you bitches have no excuse for not talking to us, unless you’re too busy sucking ass to talk to us. So if you’re interested or if you just want to spread some love, hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, or on our messages board or even on our killer MySpace account. You know you want to so don’t even fight the urge.

More updates next Tuesday so listen up or miss what everyone will be talking about next week.
