Interviews at Warped Tour 2007 (Part 1) – Podcast 61

Posted by rich on July 17, 2007

So, a week back into shows and it seems like my writer’s block has cleared up, yah! Unfortunately, you now have to (well I guess not “have to” but you should) listen to what is now known as “The Warped Tour shit-fest!”. Not that I have anything against the Warped Tour, I mean we had to apply for press Pass, which in and of itself is 90% more work than we normally do. So we had to want to get in. However, once inside the Warped Tour press tent, we entered a land where time and space functioned in odd, unexplainable ways. A world where Big D and the Kids Table weren’t listed on the interview schedule, but you could interview them if you asked the press lady about it. A world where that same press lady would continually feed you band after band of crap that you didn’t request and you didn’t know a thing about. In short, a world gone mad.

So out of the three interviews we wanted we got one. Still, we left with 7 interviews, that’s 6 whole interviews filled with bands we don’t know and people we don’t know what to ask. So sit back and enjoy the awkwardness of entire interviews where I avoid asking bands about their music, because I don’t know anything about them.

As far as contests go, we’re not going to ask bands on Warped Tour, making no money, to give us free shit. Sorry, but we’re not total assholes. But stay tuned for some real contests coming up soon. Also, say hi at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or in the comments. It’s so totally awesome it makes us forget that Al Qaeda is regrouping.

Interview with Cobra Skulls – Podcast 60

Posted by rich on July 10, 2007

So here it is, our first interview in like 6 weeks and I can’t think of a damn intro. It’s not like I don’t have enough to work with, Cobra Skulls, our guest, is a fucking fantastic band. And it’s not like it’s not topical, their new album, Sitting Army, came out today, July 10. I just can’t think of anything else to say. I can’t even try to be my typical, not funny self.

Well, the interview is rad. We have a copy of Cobra Skulls EP, Draw Muhamad, to give away. We’ll have Warped Tour interviews for the next three weeks (just a heads up, they all suck, sorry). And that’s it. Send us e-mails (soundscenerevolution@gmail.com), and MySpace and shit. Maybe I’ll be more talkative next week if you contact us.

Interview with Mike Hale – Podcast 59

Posted by rich on May 15, 2007

I want to first and foremost take a second to say we will be out of internet for a couple of weeks. We should be back late May or early June but for now Sound Guy Nariman and myself are going to take some time to drink fruity drinks and do manly stuff. Secondly, we’d like to thank all of the people who have taken time to write us, enter contests and just listen to the show. We love doing this dumb show and we love it even more that people listen and it absolutely blows our minds that people like it…I figure 90% of the interest is due to Chicken and Brendan Kelly but we appreciate the love.

We have a super great interview with Mike Hale (Gunmoll, In the Red and solo artist), with some information you totally don’t want to miss.
PLUS
A new contest where you can win a CD-R (burned by Mike Hale himself) of Mike Hale’s unreleased solo work, to go along with the new CD you’ll get a 7″ of Mr. Chuck Ragan. What 7″? The limited release of two songs off his upcoming Side One Dummy (I think I say BYO in the show), that happens to be hand numbered 315 of 600 and signed by Mr. Ragan. So that’s a limited CD-R, unavailable to the public AND a limited edition, autographed 7″. Dude you have it so easy. So listen to the last 8 minutes and learn how to enter…DO IT!

We’ll see you kids in a couple of weeks. Enjoy the time off and take it as an opportunity to think about Sound Scene Revolution has enriched your lives in the last year and a half OR just promise to come back when we return.
Thanks,
-Rich

Interview with Sundowner – Podcast 58

Posted by rich on May 8, 2007

Today we have a very special episode that features our very first phone interview with Mr. Chris McCaughan of The Lawrence Arms and (more importantly) Sundowner. Chris is as much an amazing sex symbol as he is a musician and if it weren’t for the fact that he was in Chicago and not face to face, I would have been drooling this entire interview. Luckily he was some thousands of miles away so we were able to discuss Sundowner, touring, Jenny Choi and the overwhelming Lawrence Arms breakup rumors.

Along with all that fun jibba jabba we have some music from Sundowner and some other odds and ends. Though we continue our two week draught with no give-a-ways (sorry Toby is moving and he’s a tool…seriously), but this interview should be able to stand alone for you cheap bastards. Enjoy, and always remember to hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section. Enjoy and remember it’s true, this man has no dick.

It’s been another week (give or take) so we decided to bring you more awesome shit. From who? From the Bobby and Whitney of the punk rock world, Against Me!! Listen as Tom Gabel gives us the exclusive on all that shit you really don’t care about but need to hear. It’s Fan-God Damn-Tastic!

Sorry, it’s been a week or two but we’ve been really swamped with things here in the real world (or Meat World). But we’re back with a great new interview with Fake Problems. These four crazy kids from Florida play a great mix of punk and country. You’ll totally want to listen as the boys talk about music, religion and beating the shit out of each other with spoons. Trust me it’s fun.

NEW CONTEST!:
One lucky winner will win a Fake Problems 7″ and a t-shirt (large). Listen to learn how to enter to win. Also, send us all your internet thoughts at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, MySpace or on the comments section. Be good or we’ll sick the dogs on you.

I’m making this quick because I’m way late getting this in. This week we have Ken and Jeremy from Fat Wreck Chords finest, Smoke or Fire. These guys bring the rock like your mother brings the homemade gravy to a baptism (we don’t know why she does it either). Interview with Love Me Destroyer – Podcast 53

Posted by rich on March 27, 2007

We kind of fell off the face of the earth for a little while so let me explain…We totally suck. Actually, we just wanted to make sure we had some good shows lined up. We hate taking weeks off as much as you hate late updates. The only thing we hate more than late shows is doing a show half assed. So, instead we opted to take a few weeks off, gather up some shows so this way we have a little buffer so we don’t need to fall behind or simply slap together a show with some shit band.

To usher in our triumphant return we are bringing you a great interview and contest. The band is none other than Denver, Colorado’s best punk band of 2005, Love Me Destroyer (last years award went to Prince, go figure). If you’re not familiar with Love Me Destroyer, you should be. They play a great blend of technical and melodic hard rock and they write a fucking killer power ballad.

We sat down with Scooter, Ryan and Cody to discuss their new album, Guitar Hero II, The Departed, threesomes with black chicks and trying new things with dudes. If you think you misread any of that, you didn’t, it’s just that crazy. This interview is equal parts hilarity, informational and offensive. It’s like a naked potato sack race with the guys from NPR.

If that’s not enough to get you to listen, Suburban Home Records has hooked us up, again, with crazy shit to give away. We’re talking CD’s, pint glasses and all sorts of good shit.

[I’d like to take an aside to really thank the fine people at Suburban Home. We know we’re just some shit podcast but these guys have treated as well as we could have asked for. Suburban Home is easy to work with and just genuinely good people. Now go buy their shit so they don’t have to move it all].

Be sure to listen to (at least) the last 8 minutes of the podcast to learn how to enter to win. Be sure to send us your thoughts at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace and our comments section. And remember, Love Me Destroyer: Try new things with dudes.

Sorry for the down time over the weekend. We were moving the site over to a new server with better service. Hopefully everything should be up now and everything should be back to normal. Drop us a line if you see that there is something messed up or if you can’t download an interview.
