Interview with The Gaslight Anthem – Podcast 91

Posted by rich on December 9, 2008

Before we go away for the Holidays we wanted to bring you a special interview, with some amazing folks. Last year we had a great interview with Brian of Gaslight Anthem. It was rather impromptu (I just ran after him on the street screaming, “Brian!”, at the fest). A lot has happened in that last year, they’ve toured a ton, put out fifty million versions of their vinyl records, signed to Side One Dummy and (as of Tuesday) played on Conan O’Brien. Needless to say we were more than a little excited to talk to Alex, Alex and Benny. These guys are totally awesome and it’s been fun to seem them grow, and they’ve kept a good damn sense of humor about it along the way.

So check it out and be sure to tune into our Austin Lucas and mc chris interviews to enter some contests and we’ll answer those after the new year. Be sure to hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspace or in our comment section. And remember, be sure to support our “usurper, this long-legged mack daddy”…Fuck yeah.

Interview with imadethismistake – Podcast 89

Posted by rich on November 18, 2008

Welcome to the special, pre-Thanksgiving edition of Sound Scene Revolution. It’s really on Thanksgiving related because I ate a shit ton of Turkey and got drunk and yelled at Sound Guy Nariman. Oh, the Holidays! Help us celebrate with and interview featuring Kylewilliam of the band Imadethismistake. This guy isn’t only a talented songwriter but he has this crazy red hair that makes him look like a Jim Hensen, you know you want some of that. If that doesn’t catch your interest we also talk about, life, music, running The Cottage Records, hobos from Tallehasse and unattractive old people. So tune in and check out that maddness.

Also, we have our contests for mc chris and Austin Lucas still in effect. Listen to the end of those shows to learn how to enter to win all kinds of crazy shit. As always you can contact us at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on myspace or on our comments section. And remember “… I am used to going up against men who are killers; if I am not the best, then I am dead.”

Interview with Austin Lucas – Podcast 88

Posted by rich on November 11, 2008

Remember when we did the Warped Tour show and I interviewed a ton of bands that I knew nothing about? Well, these next couple of weeks are nothing like that. I recently went to The Fest, in Gainesville, and had a chance to talk to some artists I’ve known and loved for a long time. First up is the amazing Austin Lucas.

Austin is a folk singer who used to (and still does occasionally) front crust and grind bands. Despite that odd history, Austin is very much a traditional folk musician. His father, Bob Lucas, played traditional folk and taught Austin the music as a child. Now that he’s come into his own, Austin plays soulful folk, with enough punch to attract even the most jaded punk. Many people know Austin for his album with Chuck Ragan, Bristle Ridge, but Austin is very much a talented and accomplished musician in his own right. Please check out the show and learn more about this awesome musician.

We have a chance for you to win Austin’s first LP, The Common Cold. This was pressed only in Europe and is out off 500 and is long out of print (holy run on sentence!). Listen to the last 8 minutes, or so, of the show for the rules on entry. And as always, be sure to drop use a line at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, on MySpace or here in our comments section and remember, “his choice, basically, is whether he is going to be Uncle Sam for the people of this country or Uncle Tom for the giant corporations”.

Interview with Girl Talk – Podcast 87

Posted by rich on November 4, 2008

Welcome to a historic episode of Sound Scene Revolution. An episode that not only demonstrates our commitment to bring you new content but an episode that occurs on a day that will live in American history forever. Today is a day where the world see’s the we can live up to our true potential. That we are as open minded as we say and that we choose based on qualifications and not superficial traits. Today, is the first time ever that Sound Scene Revolution has featured an electronic musician on their show. Take note.

Noted? Good. So today we post an interview we did with Gregg Gillis, AKA Girl Talk. Greg seems like a pretty normal dude, except he makes great “mash ups” and he happens to dance around half naked in front of hordes of fans. So if you like normal dudes who rule, you should dig Girl Talk.

Enjoy the show and hit us up at SoundSceneRevolution[at]gmail[dot]com, MySpace or here on the comments and remember, vote early and vote often. I’m voting three times today.

Interview with mc chris – Podcast 86

Posted by rich on October 28, 2008

Welcome to this very special Halloween edition of Sound Scene Revolution. What makes it Halloween-like? Well, I’m wearing a dress for one, but that could just be called “The Third Week of the Month” Edition. Anyhow, we’re also taking this week to talk with a very special artist mc chris (lowercase no dots, rewind). You may know him as Chris Ward, Hesh from Sealab, or even MC PeePants from Aqua Teen Hunger force. He’s truly an mc of many faces and costumes (see “Halloween”, bitches!).

So enjoy the banter as mc pretty much takes control of the interview and answers whatever questions he likes (and even some we don’t ask), but it’s probably best because of that. Enjoy the interview and listen as we might have some contest shit for you to enter to win…maybe…alright, we do have something for you to win, so listen to get some free shit.

That’s it for this week. Always take the chance to contact us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on MySpace or on the comments section. And if you’re not too busy carving backwards “B”s in your face and soreading covert racism take some time out to vote, you’ll be glad you did. See ya next week.

Interview with Look Mexico – Podcast 85

Posted by rich on October 21, 2008

We might actually manage two updates in a row folks! I know, I’m not only surprised but a bit disappointed in the slacker in me. I guess he just didn’t have what it took to miss another week. Anyhow, if we’re gonna be unlazy we might as well go big and have an interview with and awesome band, Look Mexico. These kids are actually from Florida, so I don’t even think they can see Mexico…So maybe there’s a metaphor in there, who knows? They get compared to American Football a lot (the band not the sport that harbors dog fighters), and that can’t be a bad thing. So enjoy the songs and the interview.

No new contest this week but we did wrap up the Against Me! Self-titled 12″ EP contest. So listen to find out if you won, and then start writting me to complain that your prize isn’t arriving fast enough.

We should have new interviews for the next couple of weeks and then I’ll be up in the Fest so I should have a ton of worthless drunken rambelings for you to enjoy. Till then feel free to write us at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on Myspace or here in our comments section. I know you’re out there (we track our hits) so say something you creep perverts.
-Rich
P.S. I had no intentions of soley using songs from Look Mexico’s new EP Gasp Asp, but it’s so good I had to. Buy this shit today on Steve Job’s iTunes!

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 3) – Podcast 84

Posted by rich on October 14, 2008

I’ve been off the last couple of weeks. Taking some time to reconnect with nature. Find my center. Look at lots of porn. You know the usual. We’re gonna wrap up our Warp Tour interviews today and move on to a bright and sunny future with our other upcoming interviews in the next few weeks.

This week we talk with The Gym Class Heroes and The Street Dogs. I doubt you could find two more different bands on Warped Tour. Maybe you could, but we’re not here to talk about how cool you are, so stow it. It’s a fun time and the guys in Street Dogs even reference our favorite website, Punknews.org. So peep that.

This is the last week of our Against Me! S/T 12″ contest (that ran a bit longer than expected). Listen to the last 8 minutes of the shows to learn how to enter. We’ll be back and better than ever next week. So be ready…Are you ready? Then get ready. And remember “Sure. Technically, I don’t know.”

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 2) – Podcast 83

Posted by rich on September 9, 2008

Welcome, to this the 80-something episode of Sound Scene Revolution. This is the second of our three Warped Tour Interview sections. This week we sit down with The Aggrolites, Story of the Year and Cobra Starship. Well, it’s more standing than sitting. Regardless, they’re pretty epically nasty and I highly reccomend you listen.

We are continuing our Against Me! contest for this week, so be sure to listen to learn how to enter. We’ll be back next week with tons more zany good times. And remember, “The difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick.” And dogs don’t bullshit themselves into thinking abstinence is the best answer for teenage pregnancy.

Interviews at Warped Tour 2008 (Part 1) – Podcast 82

Posted by rich on September 2, 2008

We’re back folks with probably our best podcast this week! Our show today is a double dose of Warped Tour Madness featuring The Bronx and (for the third time) Against Me!. We couldn’t be more excited as we talk with Matt, of The Bronx, about their two new albums and the insanity of Bronx vinyl. We were even more stoked to talk to Warren of Against Me!. The boys of AM! weren’t doing interviews that day, but we pulled some strings and managed to land a quickie with Florida’s favorite drummer/beard patron.

We also have a really exciting contest that we’ll be running for the next couple of weeks. One lucky winner will get a copy of Against Me!’s S/T 12″ EP. Only 500 of these were made and they sell for around $200 on ebay, so be sure to listen to the last 8 minutes of the broadcast to learn how to enter to win.

Be sure to say hello at SoundSceneRevolution@gmail.com, on our Myspace, or here in the comments section. And remember, “Avoid the Noid”.
